Day 29-33

Damn it’s been a month since I started running and writing this blog!! I feel like there has been so much change in my body, especially my legs. I can’t imagine what I will feel like when I start running serious miles let alone in November when I plan on being in peak condition.

Along with my legs feeling stronger my lungs are starting to feel stronger and more open. I cough less in the morning when I wake up and when I run. The last two times I ran I coughed so much less, and when I did cough it was not my usual prolonged hack-a-thon. It was a “normal” cough that anyone might do while running. I can’t believe it. It is so empowering and uplifting when I run and my lungs don’t scream at me and I don’t cough uncontrollably. I can feel it, I’m becoming a runner. It is pretty amazing to think that before this last marathon I would say “I could never run a marathon nor would I want to.” Now I’m blogging about my training, searching running sites online, and walking into running stores to look at gear. It’s true what they say, never say never.

As you can tell I have been lazy about writing the last few days. My training has been going well. Although I was lazy on Saturday and didn’t make it to the gym. Let’s recap my workouts since my last blog, Thursday was a rest day, Friday I worked my upper back hard and then hit the stationary bike for 25 minutes. I kind of got bored, so I stopped. Saturday like I said I was lazy so nothing happened. Yesterday, Sunday, I took a class at the gym which kicked my ass then ran two miles on the treadmill. 10:30 pace, no walking, slightest little cough! Today, rest. Looking forward to working out tomorrow and pushing it a bit.

One last thing. I started reading a book about the NYC Marathon, titled A Race Like No Other.  Right from the first chapter I started getting butterflies thinking about the fact that I am running this marathon.  Excited and nervous.  Thanks to Terry for the book, it’s getting me pumped for the challenge.

OK one last last thing.  I want to give a shout out to my sister Susan who is running the Tough Mudder race in Vermont May 7 and 8!

CF Sucks!

Thanks For Reading.

Start posting pictures! Take your iPhone to the gym or the park. Maybe record some parts of runs on the treadmill or loop. When I ran my first NYC Marathon, it was really cool to see all the stories that I read about in A Race Like No Other. It was also a distraction as I began to look for the different people talked about in the book. Go Susan!

Thanks for the shout out. Not to disappoint, but I have been in England the past two weeks and slacking on training. Two runs and one easy weight work out. My trainer will really kick my butt when I go to her on Monday. Once you complete the marathon maybe you can start training for Tough Mudder 2012.
